Gale Stream is a prisoner in the Gray Society, where the government has the technology to read minds.  When she was younger, she was imprisoned for planning a rebellion.  When Gale was living with her boyfriend, Ian, she allowed a brief thought of rebellion slip into her mind.  The government read her thoughts, and sent Gale straight back to prison.  Now the two must plan a prison escape, and get away from the Gray Society.

I released the short story, The Unchained Prisoner, with the help of the story's editor, YA author of Second Verse, Jennifer Walkup.
