For Annabelle and Leigh, this summer was destined to be one of change. The two sisters' lives will not be the same at the end of those nine weeks that separate school year from school year, and define the transformation a person undergoes. Annabelle has been crushing on her best friend's older brother for years. And with her friend out of the way, she may finally get a chance with Tim. But which is more important, friendship or a girl's first love? Leigh is back from college, working her summer job at a general store just as she did the summer before. She makes an unlikely pair of friends in grandmotherly customer Ruth and her gentlemanly grandson Ellis.
