The world is now, finally, quiet. The wars that plagued the past seem nothing but a distant memory. The sparks that ignited their devastating blazes, long forgotten and lost in the deepest, darkest recesses of time. But when no one remembers why the fire started, how can the next one be prevented?
Aiden, an old vampire, that thought himself devoid of all feelings, picks up an abused young woman from a dark alley. While he couldn't exactly tell why he didn't just leave her there to die, he is more concerned with how to deal with the skittish youngster that seems to have sneaked her way under his skin.
After a particularly rough night for the both of them, Aiden decides the city is no longer a safe place to stay. However, his destination may not be the safe haven the thought it to be, and Liah, his protégé, becomes the main target of his mother's anger and his brother's loose morals.
Still, there are darker secrets of the past haunting the present, ready to destroy the fragile peace that has kept them all alive. Among the dead bodies, the twisted truths and the wounds that never truly healed, trust is not something anyone can afford.
