In a world ruled by corruption and politics, the famous scientific organization, SERN, works on extracting powers from an unknown life form while a young female explains her life in "The Dust" (the poor side of civilization). The young female, Kylie Lockhart, becomes an assassin in order to afford to live. She kills for food and for the revenge of her parents' deaths. During this time, SERN continues to experiment on the unknown life form.
After an Assassination turns bad, the unknown life form awakens it's power, spreading crystals of energy across the world allowing the possibility of the world's power shifting.
