I was born in Tanzania right after the war. Before I was born, my parents had lived in the Mtabila Refugee Camp in Kasulu, Tanzania, for 4 years. My father is from Burundi but he grew up in Democratic Republic of the Congo and my mother is also Burundian but she was born in Congo. My parents met in Tanzania after the war and they got married there. The war forced them to leave their homes and come to Tanzania.
In Rwanda and Burundi, the Tutsis and the Hutus had been fighting and killing each other for many years. Most of the people had to leave their homes. Some of the Tutsis went to Burundi and Congo. The Hutus came into Burundi to fight the Tutsis. My father and my mother's parents were refugees from Burundi that went to Congo. They did not know each other then.
In Congo, the Mai Mai, groups of people who fought together, attacked Hutus and Tutsis, forcing them out of their country. My mother and father met in Tanzania after they had left Congo. There was fighting also.

Hi there, I'm JD, a 31-year-old Venezuelan-Spanish Economist living in Barcelona with my Russian (pro-peace) wife Anna and our two kittens; we met in Italy eight years ago, and almost since then we have been working on this project. During our careers we've worked with people from South America to Japan, from Australia to Canada, from South Africa to Norway, the characters in the novel are based on people I was lucky enough to meet along the way who left me with invaluable lessons which we feel the duty and privilege of sharing with our fellow humans, hopefully sharing what cosmologists call "Space Bias". There are seven main protagonists each one with their own chapter - which can be read in whichever order you prefer, - two of them in present tense and the rest in past, it's all part of the story. They all have mixed backgrounds such as a Japanese father and a Taiwanese mother, a survivor of the Rwanda massacre, a Colombian with Lebanese and Portuguese ancestry, a Danish whose mother is German, a Jewish lady married to a Muslim man she met in Jerusalem, an Anglo-Indian guy inspired in a way in Orwell - character name is Arthur such as Orwell's real name, - and last but definitely not least a Turkish Muslim bisexual woman for which a Lebanese friend for work is providing help; my friend is working on her Ph.D. on gender inequality in politics, especially in countries with religious civil wars that have moved from the streets to parliament. The story's Universe - 7 trillion light-years, approximately 78 times the size of our observable universe and 252 times the size of a Hubble sphere - provides more than enough civilizations to present dystopias that can serve as warnings for the future - ideally in the style of 1984, A Brave New World, or Fahrenheit 451, - as well as utopias where we find A.E.I - Artificial Emotional Intelligence - along with futuristic ways of understanding childhood, education, and life itself.Complete

In September 2000 events in Israel had a big effect on my life. For the next few years Israel was targeted by scores of Palestinian suicide bombers who detonated deadly suicide belts packed with not only explosives but also schrapnel. There was no way of knowing when the next one would strike, be it on buses, cafes, restaurants or wherever crowds of people congretated. On June 1st a bomb struck a crowd of youngsters outside a disco in Tel Aviv. One young girl who lay injured told the paramedic "we shall not stop dancing". For some reason I still remembered those brave words years later. It was then that I decided to write a book about a fictional bombing in Tel Aviv. One of the biggest reasons for this was not generated by any political belief but to specifically show that despite everything that was thrown at them Israelis simply carried on living their lives. The book title comes from the brave words of the injured young girl. It will take you through just another regular day of 12 very different people, most of them unaware that it will be their last day.Complete

Well, they altered specific genetic strands to see if they could create a sort of super-human. Their answer? Yes. But there was a flaw in their plan. These new 'evolved' humans, or 'evos', were everything they could have hoped for--strong, and fast, and smart. Practically immortal, too, so what was the problem? They were born without emotions. Maybe this doesn't sound too bad to you, but our emotions? They're what make us human. What happened next was kinda inevitable: the Evos took over. There are two strands of DNA--get one, and your set for life. Get the other, good luck living to see past your sweet sixteen. And if you are one of the crazy (or brave, depending on who you ask) people who dares to bring a child into this world, you could give them the best, longest life ever, or doom them to an early death after a suckish life. So, yeah. Our world is screwed up. And we can't go to G42 for a solution, because as soon as the Evos realized the possibilities, they slaughtered everyone who might know something and blew up the facility. Now, dear reader, are you beginning to understand the use of emotions? This is my story. I still don't know how it ends, whether it was all for better or worse. But you're here. So go ahead and read.
