Kira Red was the only born hybrid within a hundred mile radius but with the birth of a hybrid three must die. Cross breeding was seen as a spin of fortune, all you could do was hope you didn't birth a hybrid. This was what the high elders laws stated. And so when the birth of Kira came and nobody died it was seen as mercy and everyone celebrated but when her little hybrid sister is born and the Alphas first born dies along with Kira's parents she sets out to kill the ones who took her parents and to avenge the deaths of the parents and firstborns murdered throughout time. No vampire, werewolf, mage, or witch knew where these high elders were but knew only of how they flit along region's borders and in the cloak of the night they steal lives keeping the law intact. When a seer tells a prophecy that starts to fly around of a hybrid meant to take the old throne, Kira sets out in hopes to find help in taking down the elders and place a new heir to the forgotten throne.

I was going to be a father soon, or at least that was what Kira was telling me. Somehow, the joy that I knew I should've felt wasn't there and I wondered briefly if there was something wrong with me. Shouldn't I be over the moon? Shouldn't Trace? Even as I asked, I felt nothing of the sort. However, I did feel as if something weren't right. There was a small voice in the back of my head telling me that I needed to open my eyes and see what was going on, but I remained blind. Ignoring the confusion deep in my gut, I dressed for the somber occasion - yanking at the collar of my dress shirt in an agitated manner. I hated wearing a suit, but the event called for it. An Alpha had died. Alpha Nathaniel of the neighboring pack died late last week, the cause unknown to those outside of the Council of Elders. He left behind an heir that was rarely seen in public and a widow that most of their Pack refuses to treat as a Luna. Our Packs were neighbors, but not friendly by any means. Something had happened before I was born to cause a rift between the two groups and while it stayed mostly peaceful, there were issues as well. * * * Something isn't quite right in Jackson's marriage, but he's not certain what it is. He's also unnerved by the fact that he feels an overwhelming attraction to an accused murder, which shouldn't be possible since he's fully Mated. Jax's world unravels before his eyes and new revelations come to light. Gorgeous cover made by @southernTXkindagirl
