Well, that's how it use to all be for Nathan, until he finally came out of the closet as being gay. All of his A's and B's went to C's, D's, and F's. His good group of friends became his bullies. His dad started to hate him. His dad picked up the habit of drinking and became an alcoholic. After a bit of drinking, he eventually start to abuse him and his mom. His way of getting away from all of it is to shoot his bow in the woods and smoke cigarettes. He became quite good with his aim, just read and you'll see!
