Barnes was never a normal boy. His mind has been filled with math and science since the day he was born, and he won't accept that things can be unexplainable. At least that is how it was until the first day of his junior year of high school. Barnes has just been admitted into the most elite learning experience available to United States high school students, The Extensive Scholastic Program or ESP. There he meets the first people that he can remotely call friends. There is Lynette, or Nettie, the most spastic but undeniably bright girl that Barnes has ever met and she causes him to question the basis of his mentality as he begins to develop unexplainable feelings towards her. Hewett is Nettie's best friend and attached to her hip. He is tall and geeky and unable to look anyone in the eye but Nettie. And then there is Farley, the track and field star of their school that seems more jock than brains but quickly proves to have the common sense that the rest of them lack. Everything appears to be shaping up for the most interesting year of Barnes' life when something unexplainable happens after school on the very first day. Only the four of them witness it and the next day it is like nothing has happened. So just what did happen after school that fated day? And who is the new addition to ESP?
