Being a magical being among mythical creatures isn't as exciting as it sounds. Phoenix knows this, as do all of her kind. As soon as the supernatural world knows of her presence, the shit will hit the fan. Wars will be held to win her. Hunters will relentlessly chase her, and more importantly, power-hungry monsters will seduce her.
Her race is on the verge of extinction, caused by the uprising between other races determined to claim her... and her power. Throw in the fact that she is a half-breed, and you get a concoction of chaos.
Because that means Phoenix already belongs to a particular race, one that she would sacrifice her blood to avoid, especially when a certain werewolf takes a very serious - and terrifying - interest in her.
