I don’t know what it was. Maybe it was because of the glint in his eyes or the smile behind his lips, but I decided why not. There was something about him that made me give in. There was something about him that made me believe that he was someone like me. Maybe it was that crinkled band t-shirt or the way his eyes lazily scanned the diner, or maybe it was the way he ordered his coffee (black), but something in me was telling me to take him with me. Why not, this was what my little adventure was sort of for, right? To see the world, and people are part of the world. *** An escape. That’s all that Elva needs. She needs to drive cross-country around the U.S. and see all the things she has down on her list. She’s had it all figured out for four years, and has even come up with a beautiful way to end her trip; by killing herself. Elva’s empty and ready, but when an unexpected, reckless boy embarks on her adventure along with her, Elva isn't sure if things are going to go according to plan.
