A girl escapes to a faraway seaside town in search of a cure to a disease she can't even begin to understand. She finds a boy on the beach, stripped of family and words, but with a mysterious aura surrounding him that she can't stop herself from being intrigued by.

As she discovers more about the boy, strange events concerning both their pasts come to light, and she discovers they are connected by more than just curiosity.
