When Grace, the smartest freshman at school, starts having troubles at home, her grades begin to drop. As her mother and father get into drugs and her father begins abuse, Grace's A's turn into D's. She gets into drugs as well as cutting and begins to search for a reason to stop doing the two. Her school counselor decides to assign her a tutor. 

Isabella, the most popular sophomore, is assigned to Grace because she has the highest grades and she was always good at helping others with their work. She becomes aware of Grace's situation after a visit to her house. 

The two become closer and closer. Isabella begins to question her sexuality and begins to get overwhelming feelings for Grace. Grace hides her feelings for Isabella, but is aware that she's okay with Grace being lesbian.
