this is a collection of my poetry. the general theme is youth- and in my case youth is looking at the world a certain way and questioning it- asking why. there will definitely be angst, and probably some dreamy stuff too. Thank you to all who read this, I hope you like it :-)

The Dark Between Dreams
Skye is dead. How she perished is a mystery. All she knows is that she is trapped in After, a makeshift city of souls surrounded by infinite darkness and terrifying monsters that tear ghosts apart. But while all other ghosts accept the eternity of darkness ahead of them, Skye refuses to spend her afterlife in a world without light. She knows there must be some way to escape the monsters that keep them all imprisoned and return to the realm of the living, and she's going to find it...even if she has to face the prince of monsters, himself. Skye risks her existence and escapes the walled city of After in search of the truth. Venturing into the black reveals untold perils, but that's not all. Redefined every time someone new uses it, and sometimes in a more vile and lascivious way. Love was never on the table. Completely erased from his vocabulary after his mother died an unforgiving death. However, sometimes the feeling can emerge from even the darkest places in the world. Twisted and depraved. Behind the closed doors of a kidnapper's home. Or from the void that swirls in the chest of someone's missing heart. Even between the forbidden love of an angel and a demon. Love can come in all forms, in all contexts, and can form from even the smallest smidge of scorching hate. There is never light without darkness. There is never yin without yang. There are never days without nights. There is never love without hate. There is never life without death. Even villains and demons can fall in love with heroes and angels. His salvation comes from her, and her destruction comes from him. Like clockwork, they are a match made in the universe; polar opposites, but the attraction is never stronger.Complete

The mind is a horrible thing to waste. Now when you have a mind like mine, where monsters come out to play and happy things come in bursts, it helps to write things down. From bad days to good days and everything in between I try to make sense of things to go on in my world. [Complete. Wattys 2023 Winner] The Redding takes you if it knows your name. That's the rule that's kept Meg alive --- or awake, rather --- since the night the world went to hell. Nobody knows where the red stuff came from, but it acts like water, it's in the water, and it falls as rain every night. The people it captures drop like puppets with their strings cut. They're asleep, not dead, and they can be reawoken. But then they just try to kill you. Meg and the other survivors she's befriended think they've found a stable equilibrium, six weeks after the catastrophe began. In an empty town, there's not much to do except innovate new survival methods. Meg's crush is the one to discover that Morse Code, like writing, is a safe means of communication. That's all fine and good until the nightly rain begins. Raindrops, as it turns out, can make dots and dashes, too. The Redding can talk. And it's telling her to run. ❖❖❖ Complete. Wattys 2023 Winner.
