Scarlet Carmine is a normal preteen living an average life with ordinary friends. That's the way it was, until a certain Friday came. Now the life they all once lived will be gone, and they will have to make it with only themselves and music to guide them. Inspired by books such as 'The Giver'; different aspects combine to make this an original piece.

You assume most nerds aren't physically fit but this nerd could run for hours on end and never get tired. Sarah called me the young Steve Rogers even though when Steve Rogers was young it was hard enough for him to walk long distances nevermind run. Running has become a common thing with me. Especially at night after my nightmares. The nightmares are roughly the same, the experiment that turned my dad into a big green monster but instead he doesn't survive the blast. What a lot of people don't know is that I was actually in the lab with him. I watched as he tested the machines to make sure there were no accidents or causalities. Everything seemed to be fine, until it wasn't. The machine malfunctioned and the gamma rays went out of control. Not only did my dad get hit but so did I. The effects weren't exactly the same obviously but they did the same job of giving the victims unnatural abilities. On my run I started to think more about the accident as tears streamed down my face and my feet started to feel like they were on fire since my body wanted to just give out and sulk. My mother chose to leave me, my father tried to leave me. What is it about me that repels people? Everybody seemed to enjoy drama and teasing the new girl relentlessly but she knows how to stand up for herself and she can be more dangerous than they think. Some trauma from home is found and in danger of being told, things that she doesn't really want people to know. You'd think getting through high school would be easy. A certain bad boy who happens to be her neighbor takes a keen interest in her. She's never liked anyone and has had no real interest in any relationship, only her studies that kept her busy. He's smart but acts like he's the greatest and he tries to impress her but she can hardly be impressed by things she can do. He and his little girl lived on a farm, and he took care of the farm and sold eggs and whatever plants he harvested on his land. He was very busy, but he wasn't one to ask people for help. Darcy moved to a small set of homes about five miles from Jeremy's farm, so when she sees him at a local farmer's market, no one is surprised. He was always there selling things, he just wasn't one to talk to everyone in town. He had a select few friends, and that was it.
