"You regret it?" I ask, he gives me a confused look. "Regret what?" He asks. "Saving my life?" I ask, raising an eyebrow. "I don't actually." He says with a smirk. "That's good." I say. "Yup. Anytime you need someone to save your life, just hit me up." He says with a chuckle. "Oh, are you like my personal superman now?" I say. He rolls his eyes. "Sure sweetheart." Jake says, and I smile, for the first time since I was attacked.

Lauren Hollister never wanted to get in this mess in the first place. She was walking home from her boyfriends house. When these thugs grabbed her. She thought this was it. They had a gun. But then he came, and swept her off her feet. He came to her rescue. He taught her to appreciate life, because it is short. The bad boy made her a better person.

Jake Miller was never know for being good. Much less helping anyone but himself. He is cocky, rude, a bad ass. He is hot, so every girl wanted him. But why would he help out, Lauren? Was something different about Lauren? He even offered to protect her whenever she needed it. He offered to be her personal Superman. But is that too much to promise? What if he is too late, or what if he is too far away to protect her?
