Genie Hood is teased throughout her childhood by her older brother, Calum, and his best friends. Ashton Irwin, being the ring leader of the bunch, always found a way to poke fun at her the most. The boys playfully teased her, but there was always a hurtful edge to Ashton's mean words towards Genie.

Genie tried to avoid Ashton and the other's as much as possible, but avoiding them was like avoiding the plague since her brother, Calum, and the boys were constantly making a ruckus in the basement of her house.

Thankfully her best friend and Michael's little sister, Peyton Clifford, sticks up for her when ever she can.

When Genie is personally acknowledged by the national education board, and offered the chance to skip her sophomore year of high school, she gladly accepts knowing that it will look fantastic on her future college applications.

But now, going into the new school year, she is in the same grade as the boys and has classes with them. No biggy, she figures, until she finds out that she has all of the same classes as Ashton.

Ashton isn't too happy about it and begins to annoy and tease her at school, making her the laughing stalk of her peers.

When Genie is tired of Ashton's torments, she coincidentally finds out the one thing that Ashton is embarrassed of. His middle name.

Now that she has the upper hand, she refuses to take anymore of Ashton's crap.
