You were no one in Gotham unless you had an alias. For Ashlyn Brasher, she had been given the nickname "The Fox" thanks to the small tattoo on her forearm of the same likeness. And because it was the only thing her unfortunate victims saw of her before she disappeared with half their cash. Most of the time, she didn't even have to leave her laptop to rob the oh-so-dangerous gangsters of Gotham blind. The plan was just to steal enough money to get herself and her friend Sasha out of the all-girl halfway house for "mental health recovery" they were stuck in then move on with her life.
She did not however expect to make a name for herself in the Gotham underground. Nor did she anticipate the unholy thrill of being an unseen force in the shadows. But mostly? She didn't expect to gain the attention of the most powerful and downright scary crime lord of them all. With him igniting those sinful urges and unlocking the missing pieces to Ashlyn's memories, the little hacker learns one of her hometown's unspoken rules: The Joker always has the last laugh.
(Slow burn. Eventual Joker/Oc. This is based on Suicide Squad's Joker set in that universe. What with the movie not being out yet and my guesses on how that portrayal will be. This is a mature story with dark themes that also includes slight drug use, lots of cursing and smut. Readers be warned.)
