There is a trail between the community and the high school the students use to cut through. Joan Morgan walks this trail every morning to get to school. A short walk, with nothing exiting in between it besides trees and dirt. Today however, something feels off for Joan. A feeling that grows the further she goes along. Midway she sees it. A small path that breaks off from her normal one. A path she has never seen before until today and one only she can see.
Curious, Joan follows the path and finds at the end a booth; one looking much like the old wooden ones found at a carnival. Standing behind the booth is a peculiar looking man; tall, rail thin and extremely unpleasant, he calls himself the registrar.
“Are you here to register?” he asks her, shoving a clipboard and pencil into her hands.
“Register for what?” Joan asks him.
The Arcogon; an archery tournament between six competing sectors, two competitors per sector, that goes for six days. Joan’s partner, Jonathan Parker, has already signed in an hour ago. Jonathan Parker is the good looking jock who goes to her high school, the one who probably doesn't even know she exists.
Six days, six challenges; each challenge more difficult than the previous one, ends with only one sector standing as the winner.
“Keep to the rules in the arena, that’s my house. Outside of it, the rules don’t apply…” says the head advisor.
Joan has no problem following rules, but some of her competitors do. Focus and aim is the key to this tournament, Jonathan tells her, but how does Joan focus with her crush at her side? And how can she win if she's never even used a bow and arrow? It seems Joan has quite a few challenges ahead of her in this game, but Joan was never one to back down from a challenge.
