People refused to believe that they caused this. Denial is so strong and it overtook so many people. They didn't want to accept it. They came up with ridiculous reasons to why it "Cannot possibly be their fault." Today we can see where this thinking left us. Left our homes, families, and so many people dead because people refused to accept the reality. Some people see new opportunities, a new start, yet all I see is another chance to make the same mistakes; another death for our home. I feel the ship depart from our home and watch as it slowly fades from our view.

The time has finally arrived, where the earth has reached its limit. Food, water, and land, all luxuries we've taken for granted, have been slowly looming down on us as a possible issue of the future. But that was just it. An issue of the future. A virus is was what caused our world to break, what caused the good to become the bad. Kids were being hunted down and captured for this gift that was given to them by that virus. It's been seven years. Parents tried to hide them, but they got killed and took the gifted. No child was safe, from five year olds to basically eighteen. It's the apocalypse for us. Before, when the world spun full circle and people cared about binging shows and listening to their favorite diss tracks from beefing rap stars, the thought of the end of the world was a figurative rumination that was always there but stuck in one's back of mind. How vastly naive that thinking was. The world did end. Figurative became surreal and quite literal as they came down hard and fast; aliens that are bigger than oak trees and faster than a cheetah out hunting to feed their young. They took lives, uncaring about anything except the children they could control and sank their teeth into the youth of our world to use them as slaves for their motives. What they weren't planning on was creating something they couldn't control. Sorry...not something. Someone. Me.

I reach the end of the alley and turn to face my foe once again, but he remains where he is, still blocking my path but not approaching either. New plan: when he gets close, duck under his arms and make a run for it. Now I just have to wait. Before a minute has even passed, another armoured soldier appears and joins the first. This just keeps getting worse. How am I supposed to dodge past two of them? "What do you want now?" the new soldier grumbles. This one must be Alex. "Look at this cute little human I found. She's feisty. I think she's perfect for you." I glare at them. "I don't want a pet human. That's your disgusting fetish, and I'll have no part in it." "Oh come on Captain," the first soldier whines, "You don't have to fuck her, just train her to be obedient. Surely you can control one measly wild human? You are a captain after all. When you're done, you can just get rid of her, like I do with my humans." What the fuck? For a brief moment my fear is replaced by anger. Who do they think they are, talking about me like I'm some kind of wild animal? "Get the fuck away from me! You freaks!" I screech. The first soldier just flashes an evil grin. They don't budge.
