At age seventeen, Landry Ellis has experienced more pain and heartbreak than most people endure in a lifetime.
     After losing her mother four years ago, Landry feels as though she lost her father that same day.  She tried desperately to pick up the pieces and move forward, but fate had other plans.
    One year ago, Landry's life shatters once again, leaving her broken and angry.  She can't remember all of the details from that horrible night, and she's not sure she wants to.  Landry knows in order to escape the past, she must leave her memories and hometown behind her.
    Grandma Lee has always been her safe haven.  It was her grandma's small town where Landry spent the best summer of her life when she was ten years old, and she hopes it will provide the safety and comfort she seeks now, as she struggles with the pain and guilt that threatens to consume her.
    What she doesn't expect is her grandma's neighbor.  The same boy with gorgeous blue eyes and a dimpled smile that made her summer seven years ago so special.  
Only now, he's all grown up.
   Kale Archer has one goal - to leave his small town in the rearview mirror as soon as he graduates.  On the outside, Kale is a popular football star on his high school campus, but on the inside he's battling his own demons.  
     When he encounters Landry Ellis again after seven years, Kale is determined to rekindle their friendship.  The attraction between them is undeniable, but Landry's fractured heart is guarded by the fear of letting anyone into her destructive world.
     Kale wants to take away Landry's pain, but first he has to let go of his own.
