Jane Tomatsu is a girl on the run. She watched her parents die by the hands of a sadistic woman and sets out on a journey to find her brother Jack. She knows if that woman manages to find her, that her life will be forfeit.

She meets a street kid named Leo Cooper who shows her that life is more than good grades and responsibilities. They make their way across the country following rumors of a Psychic Underground somewhere in California.
