Yasufumi Nekomata, head coach of Nekoma High's boys' volleyball team, introduces his granddaughter to the team. Her name is Meiko, she's soft-spoken and emotionless but is fierce on the court. Meiko strives to please her grandfather with her skills as a talented spiker and her goal is to be an Olympian. Although, reaching for gold is hard when you're not on a team. She finds the girls team weak and not challenging enough for her to improve her skills.


When she meets the team, her first impression is not great. She found she was drawn to Kenma though and soon, they became friends. However, in this friendship, the team's captain came with it. She was scared of Kuroo for a while, but slowly overcame her fear and became friends with him as well.
