Mentalism is basically a field of magic or art that involves feats of mind. Mentalism perform by a performer, known as mentalists, appears to have higher mental or intuitive abilities. Some people regards them as psychics entertainers or a person having a sixth sense.

Many people, from the profiles of criminal to magicians, uses mentalist tricks or different psychology tactics to interpret human behavior. Mentalists have great observational skills to establish accurate theories about people, circumstances, and events. One of the best example in the modern world was detective Sherlock Homes. He made deduction using his excellent brain at a greater capacity and a far beyond the other average "ordinary person".

Types of Mentalism
The most common categories of mentalism include telepathy, clairvoyance, precognition, mind control, and hypnosis. The most popular mentalism effects involves:
 - Mind reading, where the magician is apparently able to point out exactly what the audience is thinking.
 - Telekinesis, where the magician move or alter objects using the power of the mind. The best  - known is spoon bending or metal bending.
 - Predicting the future, where the mentalist is predicting something that will happen in the future. This can involve a news or worldly event.
 - Psychometry, where the mentalist is able to discern the history or ownership of an object.
