Lovely as sunshine was, a rainy day allured her more. As stunning as the golden rays were, she smiled when she saw the puddles of water. She buzzed with joy when she wore her raincoat, when she held the ebony handle of her bright, red umbrella. As saccharine as a clear day was, her she went on long thoughtful walks on long, rainy days, always donning a distinct, blue raincoat.
••
A bright light distracted her as she was about to cross the street, the distinct fuzzy lights of an approaching car, crimped by the gushing rain . She stood at the crossing as the car pulled up right beside her, her eyebrows furrowed with confusion, the light smile still flickering on her lips.
"Would you like a ride, Miss? This weather isn't the best for a walk." The window rolled down at a pace that kept her on the verge of anticipation, wanting to see who owned that baritone voice. She bent over to look at his face, and gave him a smile that could only be described as honey. He blinked, first confusion, then wander clouding his mind.
"No I'm quite delighted by this rain. Thank you, though. " She smiled, before skipping ahead of the car and dashing across the road, giving him a cheery wave. He stared, and started to smile as he slowly accelerated his car again, dazed at what had just occurred. The rain usually made his mood frosty, yet seeing her, he could almost agree that there was an underrated beauty that the silver droplets of water on his window held, tricking down with grace.
She went home and remembered his silvery eyes, the care that they'd held when he'd pulled over. He never forgot about her.
