My toes curled at the feeling. Other people smoke weed or do heroin, but my drug of choice is pain. Glancing around the dark room, I sighed deeply. All my life, I had been different." Devin is emo. He has been bullied at school for years and when he moves out of his parents house, Devin just wants to die. Meredith is also emo. She is almost a mute and believes she is worthless. Her high school days were spent bunking off, and Meredith intends to quit her job as soon as her possessive older brother lays off about her future. But when these two meet, a whole new part of their lives are opened. Although, nothing is ever achieved without pain, depression and blood, is it? It does get better.
People say it will get better. But to be fair, most of them never were in your place. They say you will get happy again, but how can they know? I've struggled with trauma, mental illnesses, and self harm for many years. These are (mostly) poems - about me and my journey of getting better. ! As this is about self harm and other previously mentioned topics, it might be triggering. I don't glorify it in any way, though. I'm also not a native English speaker. If you find any mistakes, please tell me so I can improve.
