"I don't want you to pity me."
"I know," he responded, looking straight at me. I hated his eyes; they made his emotions so easy to read. I could tell he truly wanted to help me.
"I've been through a lot on my own, okay?" I tried again, hoping to anger him into giving up on me.
"I know," he continued with the same calm in his voice.
"And... And I can get through this too!" I panicked, not knowing what else to say. My eyes darted around the room, careful to not lock with his.
He tried once more to get through to me, "Quinn..."
"No! Please, just don't. Don't say anything... please," I pleaded, hoping to God he would keep his mouth shut.
He sighed as I took a deep breath. "Now, please, if you really like me, you'll just leave." I glanced towards the door, praying he got the hint.
"Don't do this, Quinn," he warned with a threateningly sad voice. God, I hated when he used my name. I hated that he made it sound so beautiful, like a name fit for a celebrity or queen or someone of importance.
"Just stop, alright? I can't trust you, just like I can't trust anyone! I've been shut out far too many times at this point... Chasing me might seem fun now, but I'll get my hopes up, and you'll get bored of the chase, and we'll both end up disappointed and with hurting hearts."
