It's been a year. A year since Ethan Moon and Jack Westover lost their rocket to the stars in an attempt to colonize Neptune. But then they get a message-- a message from the people they thought were dead-- and realize that they were played. Now they're locked in a race against Moon's old nemesis to save their friends. But in order to do that, they'll have to heal old wounds, stifle ghosts, make amends with their past and possibly make a deal with the devil-- Ares Willis, excuse me-- in order to get to Neptune in time for a final reckoning.

Years upon years drag, time wasted in the confinement of normalized abuse. They solemnly accepted that they'd rot away; their leg broken and long since stopped hurting, the infection slowly eating away their very own bones. It was too late for hope. It was too late for a miracle. Until it really isn't. (In which you get hit by a car, punch someone in the face, and self-sign yourself as a caretaker to two aliens.)
