This poor child is a lonely boy who can't show any affection towards anyone. If he does, his "curse" will activate and kill that person in some way. Heart attack, disease, car accident, murder, anything of that sort. So he remains as emotionless as possible. But he's slowly going insane and now is taking advantage of the curse to kill people he hates. A detective woman is checking out these deaths and figures out that it's the boy. She doesn't tell anyone, because she wants to help the poor child. And she does that by making the boy show affection towards her, but she doesn't die.
