The world is ending.

Zombies swarm the earth, turning humans into monsters.

People are given a chose; 

Stay in a government facility, you won't die but are shut off from the rest of the world.

Or live in the outside world with the danger of death, but you are free to do what ever you want to.

Follow a group of kids who attempt to survive in the world. Everything is different, people are changing, the world as we know it is gone. Can they find the cure? Can they survive? And at what cost?
