This book follows the story of the members of a legendary team of bounty hunters and rebels, known as GrimRose. The story takes place in a world without countries or nations, known as Diya. Diya is filled with a mysterious energy known as Hemisphere Energy, as well as being overseen by godlike creatures known as Itri, which allow humans to utilize the Hemisphere Energy in ways unique to them alone. People who actively use this energy are categorized as Miras, or Energy Wielders. Mira are often bound to creatures called sigma, which don't grant any active abilities, but make it easier for Miras to wield their energy.
Due to different resources and needs than in our world, Diya has things like cellphones, but cars are things only people who can afford one, and wish to have one have. The rest rides horses, or walk.
The story switches between the points of view of the various characters. The main characters are:
1. Iseal Grim, a talented Miras who wields his energy through the natural elements, such as wind and fire, and adopted brother to Andreas.
2. Andreas Sophia, a serious and powerful Miras who can use his energy to summon various weapons and tools.
3. Layla Rose, an energetic lady who is not completely there. Her energy allows her to create various projectiles and ammunition for her supply of weapons.
4. Dociele Magdalene, a police officer from Avonmore City, who has a strong sense of justice. Her energy allows her to read people's emotions, and sometimes tell if they're lying.
5. Eth, Layla's sigma who was bound to the core of her personal rocket launcher. He now inhabits this weapon, and for safety reasons, has been given full control over the weapon.
This is my first story/book, so expect not all aspects of the book to be perfect. Criticism is welcomed, as it helps me write and learn.
Hated by the people she's sworn to protect, dragon rider Neely Lynch searches for her stolen dragon while struggling to control the dark powers inside her.
*****
After the Culling of Naughton -- a horrific slaughter that led to the murder of several dragon riders and the destruction of two separate armies -- Neely Lynch is on the warpath. Unbeknownst to most, Neely and her friends survived the Culling and are determined to reunite with their kidnapped dragons at any cost (even if that means leaving a trail of broken and bloody bodies behind them). But finding her dragon soon becomes the least of her problems when Neely discovers her disappearance after the Culling has only added to her reputation as the infamous Vidalin Rider. Hated and scorned by the people she's sworn to protect, Neely must find a way to prove she's not the villain everyone thinks she is before her dark and deadly powers, which are slowly growing beyond her control, transform her into the very thing she's trying not to be.
[The Rider's Legend can be read as Book 3 in The Rider series, or as a standalone -- but note that it will spoil Book 1 and 2]
