Alexia Safermy was kidnapped at the age of 11 years old. Having a spotty memory of life beforehand, four years after she was kidnapped, she went mute due to her kidnappers punishing her for going against them by trying to run away one too many times. She decided pleading for mercy got her nowhere and that's all she ever said anyway.
