Every year on the 7th of July, a comet strikes the sark side of the moon. But instead of destroying the moon, it ignites a source of magic deep inside the core. As earth and the moon are connected, the same magic is woken from deep inside Stardust Lake, located in the middle of Stardust Reserve. And this magic calls three teens between ages 12-16 there every year. In the year 2077, three 14-year-old girls venture to the middle of Stardust Lake, and are teleported into an alternate universe, where they cannot leave Stardust reserve. With the help of Tyler, Matteo, and Dylan, three boys that have been trapped for two years, Lindsay, Breeze, and Abigail must escape before they become adults and are trapped forever.

Each year, fourteen-year-olds from all over Raywen are brought to the isles of Meteor Bay to touch the magical ivy that grants a select few with the ability to shapeshift into an animal. If they receive an animal, they join the Animal Police and are trained as the next generation of shapeshifters. Celsa and Phoebe have just started their training, but they can sense that there's something off about the whole thing. Celsa starts having recurring dreams of her past, and of her friend Philip. Phoebe runs off into the woods each night to escape her cursed animal and meets another wolf shapeshifter named Finn. Along with their friends, Celsa and Phoebe find that they are being dragged along in a century-old conspiracy, and that they might be the only ones who can save Raywen.
