Maria Merryweather is just your average thirteen year old girl - hanging out with friends and looking out for boys. She knew that she was slightly more privileged than others, having an average sized house but filled with butlers and maids and cooks. Her mother had passed away earlier, and her father was in the government, but he had just been killed. Maria had lost it all, except for a book that her father left for her in his will. Having no family left except for an uncle she had never met who lived in the countryside who she is going to live with, Maria's life is altered as she discovers that there may be more to her than meets the eyes.
