Then she was going to live a good, long life. But those dreams-except the third one- spiraled down the drain when Nutmeg's parents betroth her to Jaque when she's thirteen. Her parents didn't tell her any more about her future husband except his first name: Jaque. Nutmeg expected to marry when she became eighteen, so she was surprised when, two weeks before her sixteenth birthday, her mother announced her wedding day and birthday would be the same. That upcoming birthday. Nutmeg's dreams were dead. Except the third, which would be coming true much sooner than she'd ever expected.

It's not very painful at first, but the flowers get bigger and more frequently coughed up over a span of 2 years.
