For twenty two year old Jack, life has just begun. It is his first year as a teacher at Kenwood High, the high school he had attended just four years before. Once upon a time, Jack had sworn he would never go back. High school was a terrible experience for him, and he was glad to leave the place. But Kenwood High is the only school that was willing to hire a fresh-out-of-college teacher, so now he’s back, though he really doesn’t want to be. The school brings back memories, memories he longs to forget. But then he meets Alex, the sociable, intriguing seventeen year old with a passion for music, and a habit of living life a little too close to the edge. Suddenly, the school doesn’t seem so bad anymore. The memories he once longed to forget are replaced with memories of happiness and joy, but a person can only stay happy for so long.
