When a gang of bandits attacked Town Keper, many people died defending the town. Among them is Uri, a fire-wielding rai and best friend to Ziya, a girl terrified of judgement.

Alone in a world of strangers, she is determined to bring Uri back. However, to do so, she will have to learn to overcome her fear. Furthermore, she meets traveler Merle, whose candid honesty and unshakeable resolve to join Ziya on her adventure only seems to hinder her. She must either set aside her worries to bring her best friend back, or have the thorns of fear stuck in her heart forever.
