learn things for the sak get a good grade. There have been so many tests that I've crammed for the night before, gotten an A, and now I don't remember anything. I've changed that this year, and I enjoy school so much more. Also relating to academics, don't take easy classes just to have a simple year. If you have a choice between AP Chemistry and "Racquet Sports," the first will prove to be a lot more useful!
While drugs and drinking might be present in some middle schools, they're definitely around in high school. I have a lot of friends who swore they'd never drink or smoke, but are now partying every weekend. You hear this all the time, but that's because it's true: don't give into peer pressure. If you have "fun" and spend your nights wasted instead of studying or hanging out with friends, you will regret it when you're applying for college and realize that you've thrown away the last few years. The "friends" who say you're a loser for not partying are really not your friends at all. It's hard to see your closest friends grow apart and go in different directions, but don't follow their footsteps. Create your own path in life and make your own decisions.

The party was quite nice. The school year had just started. But there was too much alcohol, too many problems, and a unfortunate accident that would kill 5 kids, leaving many in grief. Cheating happened, death happened, rape happened, and brought people closer to each other than they've ever been. People mourn every time they see the sunset, people can't bring themselves to get into an Uber. At the end of the day they're just young, and some will stay young forever. Before They Were Stars {COMPLETED}
It’s funny how little things that happen in life can change everything about a person. How it changes their attitude, appearance, status in society, personality, and much more. I was your typical teenager, I hung out with all kinds of people, I loved making new friends, I didn't care about appearances or which group you were from. Then I started high school and everyone started changing, the cliques got worse and some of my friends had become too good for the rest of us. Life went on though no matter what there was a group of us that refused to let the politics of high school change us, but no matter what slowly each one of us fell into it all whether we realized it or not. Our group went from tons of people to a mere few. All that was left was those who didn't play in any sports, wasn't a genius, wasn't asked to join the more popular crowd, and who had no school spirit. You really found out who your true friends were through the transition of grade school to high school. I still got along with everyone although I only would hang out with my small group. Even we had let the politics of high school change us whether we realized it or not. We each had changed our outlook on life and our attitudes a little here and there but that could have just been considered as us growing up as well. I like to think that we were shaped by the harshness high school brought with it. Our group went through major changes our senior year not that we had expected it to happen or even wanted it to happen but it did changing our lives forever. It all started when two new guys were introduced to our school taking all of us for one hell of a ride.Complete

Things in Omaha aren't very extraordinary. Or maybe that's just me. I never go to parties. I never have sex. I guess you could say I'm not a normal teenager, or that my reputation isn't the best. And I'd probably agree with you. I'm graduating this year and I cannot wait to leave this place behind, but that's in a year. I need to get through one more year of hell. And here I am, sitting in my blue Focus in front of my highschool. People walking in. I take a deep breath and get out of my car: I have to start somewhere. I walk inside and nobody yells my name saying they missed me like they are to the other kids. But nobody stares. It's like I'm invisible I walk into my first class, AP World History and I take a look at the seating chart, noticing that I'm in the back, and mentally high-fiving myself Until I notice that I'm next to Jack Gilinsky, 1/3 of the coolest group of guys in school.I hate him with a writhing passion, but I have too suck it up. An Unexpected Moment
... that changes everything Sarah was starting her junior year of high school. Looking at herself in the mirror, she saw a pretty average blonde haired, blue eyed, teenager. She was neither in the popular group, nor one of the many cliched outsiders. Sarah was a nobody. She liked to blend in and lay low. It was her way out of not only this town, but her house. No one knew it, but her father was a high functioning alcoholic that often took his anger out on his family. With her older sister now in college, it had turned to her more often. Laying low in general was a good strategy. Across town, Ryan was prepping for his final year in high school. While he wasn't the stereotypical quarterback of the football team, he did fit into the popular crowd. His sports of choice included basketball and soccer, either of which might line him up for a scholarship next year. Ryan had a group of close friends and a lot of adoring acquaintances. It wasn't easy juggling his athletics and keeping the grades up, but he was just that good. The supporting parents didn't hurt either. It might be a cliché romance, but it will be fun to see what the year and beyond holds. ------------------------------------------ This is a story I wrote years ago, or at least partially wrote.
