"But why?" He asked, wondering why the sky and ocean were always gray, why a gray and yellow crayon made green, why this "blue" was so foreign to him. Why couldn't he get to see the shine of the sapphire, navy, of all its glory. Why he wouldn't get to taste the pure azure of the blueberry. He wondered why all he saw when he looked at the midnight blue was gray.
A boring, simple, gray. 

"Well," she said, "I suppose that would ruin the surprise."
