Seventeen year old Vivian Caulfield was born an upgraded human, and she's being hunted because of it. She's not the only one, there's no way she could be. Vivian can manipulate the elements, but not all of them. Vivian, and the rest of her kind, hold large amounts of power that can be harnessed and used. If this power falls into the wrong hands, chaos will ensue. Some Elementals, as the upgraded humans are called, can control only one element, others can control two. The people hunting her, the Companions, haven't given up on their mission. They are completely off the grid, they don't exist in the eyes of the law, or the eyes of the public. They only exist in the shadows.
The companions won't rest until they've sent every Elemental to the grave.
