On an island far away from other countries, lonesome in the ocean, is the long lasting belief that women are nothing. They are to be given away as spouses, are allowed to be abused, and never let out of the living arrangement. For a man, life is great. They do nothing themselves, and have their promised slave. For women, they have no rights. Standing up for yourself as a woman can give you jail time, or death. Though it may not sound as bad as it is, but something must be done. Rose, an ordinary girl was born, and instantly promised to a boy named Jace. At age 14, they were to get married. Jace is excited. He can't wait to live out his life as an police officer. He is highly knowledgeable about the law, and will stop at nothing to give others the punishment they need. Rose on the other hand, hates Jace for his abusive nature, and crazy dominance need. She wants this spouse trade to stop, as she wants to have a job as a teacher. She knows she'll never get this wish. The island gets prophecies, about women who will stop the trade. They were all executed. A new one came in... "A strawberry is small, and devoured quickly. While ripe ones are juicy, and full of knowledge. A girl as pure as a rose will stop this once and for all, and live her life in happiness, as will all people on the island of Tiamy." (Tee-ah-me)
