Nothing to lose
My best friend Greyson McNamara and I have been partners in crime for a while now. Pranks, sneaking out to go to parties, joy riding in our parents' cars, all that crazy teen stuff, we made a pact to do together. And surprise surprise, dating each other was never on that list. I mean it's not like Grey is a bad looking guy or anything. Wink wink. Now back to that no dating thing. For years, we heard about how we would be a cute couple and how we are perfect for each other. Of course, we always laughed it off until one day we didn't. Our senior year has ended with two back to back breakups and all we can think is that we have nothing to lose. That includes us thinking that it can't hurt to try to date each other for the summer before college. We made a promise to each other that we'll stay friends no matter what. "Well then. That's the first time a girl has ever rejected my close proximity," he said, eyes ablaze with a playful fire. "You better get used to it," I retorted as I spun on my heel and headed for the school doors that led to the outside. "I've never met anyone like you before," he called after me, this time, not coming after me. "I know, Romeo. I'm a special little snowflake," I called back, not turning around. "You got the 'little' part right there, Princess!" he shouted after me. I threw up my middle finger back to him and heard him laugh as I exited out the doors rather dramatically. ... I'm tired of all those high school stories about a straight-A girl student with the perfect life who falls for the stereotypical Mr. Bad Boy who wears leather black jackets and only has a soft spot for her. That's not how the real world works, sweetheart. I may look like a damsel, but I'm never in distress. ... It's official. I'm a High School graduate and a soon to be College Student! Finally going to get out of my parents house and off on my own. Well.. They wouldn't let me get my own apartment or live in the dorms until my Sophomore year. They assume it will make me go wild and crazy. Talk about trust.. So we made a compromise. I would move in with my older brother and his roommate. At least until my Sophomore year.
