The night that the nightmares appeared is the night things changed for Hailey, she just didn't realize it. She didn't realize something was wrong in the new house for the nightmares to become real. She thought it was all a sick dream.

She didn't realize that they became real when she became an insomniac and they could no longer harm her in her sleep.
