Fifteen year old Hinayana is an extremely delicate girl, known for cutting and being depressed. But one day she takes it a step deeper and tells her ex boyfriend that she wants to kill herself. Determined to keep her safe, Austin plans to take Hinayana from his small town to the big city in the north of the province, ready to steal money and cars to keep her safe; he only tells one person out of fear of being caught - Tessa. Tessa has had a crush on Austin for months, and despite telling Austin to go when he asked for her input, she doesn't want him to go. She knows that when he is found, he'll go to a group home in the city or to jail for his crimes, and she won't ever see him again; but she knows he has to do this. So on their last bus ride together, they say a solemn goodbye and Tessa cries herself to sleep that night. But then, at two-thirty AM, there is a knock on her window - Austin has come, and he wants her to follow him to the city with Hinayana. For months they steal and ditch cars, take money, and sleep in shifts, until Hinayana gets depressed again. Austin spends every second trying to make her happy again, and in the vulnerable state, they nearly get caught by the police. In that moment, Hinayana reveals that her ancestors were angels, and that she is depressed because she wants to be with her parents, is too angelic for this world. That night, when her ancestors rise down, she welcomes their embrace. In return for helping her, Hinayana grants them both one wish. Austin wishes to return to his old life with no consequence whatsoever, but Tessa asks for only one thing - to be noticed by Austin.
