James is a male vampire, lost in the modern world, who has retreated to a mansion on a hill, only going out at night to collect his victims. To the mundane mortals, he is known as a highly dangerous criminal who should be avoided at all costs. But the police have been called, and they either wander away dazed and terrified or end up varying degrees of gruesomely dead. He swears he feels no remorse, but the psychological damage has been taking its toll and this vampire is quite sick. The only thing he can do is reform his blood-thirsty behavior, which kills most vampires.
Marina, a female human weapon, is part of a secret chain of vampire hunters stationed across the U.S. Trained in knife and stake fighting, and well as martial arts and espionage, this fearless young woman sees him one night out for a walk, this time having killed nobody, and follows him home. She begins luring him to view his choice of food, blood in this case, and spying on him to learn his schedule and daily life.
In return, he becomes just as interested in her as she is in him.
