When Julie returns home after escaping a toxic and violent relationship she is reunited with her best friends Peter and Hegly, Overwhelmed with joy they forget the reason they all parted ways but only for what seems like a moment. It's not long until they find themselves back at that dead end that they had tried to escape, the event that took place nearly four years before. As hard as Julie tries to forget, she can't help but feel that her return has only brought disease to her loved ones but what she doesn't realise is that all of the people from her past hide their own secrets almost as well as she hides hers. As far as she was concerned returning should have been easy. She had simply wanted to pass through to say her goodbyes, but nothing is ever that simple. As Nell recovers from the loss of her mom, her Dad's depression, and a string of failed relationships, Rory has remained her one reliable constant. He is not only her dad's best friend, but also the harbor she comes home to when life gets tough. That unique bond gets put to the test when Nell develops feelings for Rory that go a little deeper than he can allow. Their difference in age, their entangled lives, and the judgement of their closely-connected families stand in the way of their happiness. And risking the love they already share for a more intimate kind of love seems to be too much of a gamble.
