*click* We stop in our tracks. We turn to Jayla, who is looking down at her foot. She looks up at us, tears brimming her eyes. "Go." "But-" "Go." She says it forcefully this time. I stare at her and she looks at me. She nods. "I love you Jade. Be brave, OK?" I nod. And so I and the rest of the squad leave her, our boots leaving prints in the mud.
