What if Paul left before The Beatles were even The Beatles? It's a modern AU where Paul's mother dies giving birth to Mike and Jim blames Mike for her death. Paul takes beatings from him (I don't actually think of Jim McCartney in this way at all) in order to keep him off Mike. Paul had just gotten in a relationship with John, but will Paul's mistake keep them apart or will they find each other again? Originally posted on AO3.
