Of course no one knew that she hadn't been born with white hair, not even the boy she was basically dating, except a boy little older than her named Lawliet. He was like a brother to her. Lawliet was given a caretaker named Watari and Skye, one named Yamato. She lived her life as normal as she could and climbed the ranks as a detective; even surpassing L, though she didn't know who he actually was.
As it's well knows, shinigami liked to gamble to entertain themselves. The king himself gambled his own life and power on her and a few years before she went into Wammy's.
