As a strong and independent woman, I never thought I would find myself in this position. "I just don't understand why as soon as I get my life together, Nathan has to butt right back in?!" I cry to my best friend, Analise. I pound down another glass of moscato as I do so. "Alex, you can't let him keep doing this to you! He honestly just likes to drag you down to build up his ego! He's been doing this since undergrad at the U!" Analise says to me. She puts a hand on my shoulder. "I know it's hard for you, but maybe you just need a fresh start. Nathan and you have so much history together. Maybe it's time." I think about this for a while. "You know what? You're right. I'm 26, and I'm a damn good writer. I just got that job offer in New York. Maybe I'll take it!" I say triumphantly. Analise cheers and pours us two more glasses of wine. We clink them toether and guzzle them down. "Look at me now, Nathan Jones. Look at me now." I think to myself. And that is how my journey began.
