This short horror story, which is just under 650 words in length, details the experiences a husband and wife as they criss-cross the United States and finally come to the border between Arizona and California. Looking forward to the California beaches, they don't think twice to think up a hitchhiker, and that's when things start to get bad.

The Golden 30 Last Seconds "0 minutes and 59 seconds." I say out loud. They all look at me, confused. "That's how long I have before they come. I'm sorry I didn't ell you earlier, Brook and Blake."
